AURELIA, Iowa — Delores Maxine Wharton, 75, of Aurelia died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2000, in Sun City, Ariz.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Aurelia, with the Rev. Larry Lemke officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. today, with the family present 6:30 to 9 p.m., at Wharton-Redig Funeral Home in Aurelia.

Mrs. Wharton was born Dec. 25, 1924, in Aurelia, the daughter of Clarence Henry and Clara Mathilde (Radke) Kaskey. She graduated from Aurelia High School in 1942. She attended Buena Vista College in Storm Lake, Iowa, for two years. She then taught in Spirit Lake, Iowa.

She married Charles W. Wharton on June 15, 1947, in Aurelia. She worked as a homemaker before she returned to teaching in Cherokee. Iowa, and then in Aurelia. She received her degree from Buena Vista College in 1975. She retired from teaching after 20 years in Aurelia in 1987.

She belonged to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Ladies Aid, Sunset Knoll Auxiliary, Aurelia Historical Society, pinochle, bridge and craft clubs. She enjoyed golfing and dancing.

Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Ann Holton of Coralville, Iowa; two sons, Mark and his wife, Karen of Aurelia and Paul of Minneapolis; four grandchildren, Emily, Mandie and Kim Wharton and Stephen Holton; two brothers and their wives, Eugene and Cynthia Kaskey of Aurelia and Vernon and Sandra Kaskey of Savannah, Ga.; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother, Glen; and a son-in-law, Paul Holton.

A memorial fund has been established.
