W. C. ADSIT, P. G., P. C. P.

Eulogy by Committee of Cherokee Lodge No. 188.

Each year records the passing of some of our Brothers, and frequently we are called upon to record the passing of some one of our members who have been the recipient of distinctive honors at the hands of our members. This year is no exception and we have met today to pay tribute of respect to one who took an active part in our councils for many years.

W. C. Adsit was born December 12, 1832, in Duchess county, New York, and was initiated in the I. 0. O. F. lodge No. 58, at Decorah, la., January 5, 1857. Came to Cherokee, Sept. 1, 1876, and joined- Cherokee lodge No. 188 by card, January 2, 1877. In 1907, he was presented with a fifty
year jewel, by Cherokee lodge No. 188, of which he was a member until the end. He had held all of the offices in the subordinate, and encampment branches, and was several times representative to the grand lodge and the grand encampment. During his long residence, in Cherokee Past Grand Adsit conducted a shoe store, also was county auditor for a number of years.

How simple his life—in him was no affectation—the real and not the seeming inspired him, "moved him; With him; the man was to be "regarded always, and not" the clothes which
he wore", or the house in which he lived, or the wealth, or the poverty with which he might be surrounded. No glitter could dazzle him, no temptation could swerve him from the right, as. it was revealed to him, and no opposition could daunt him.

No betrayal could shake his allegiance to truth and justice. No flattery could win him. No fire ever
grew hot enough to drive him from his guns. He never betrayed a trust, never deserted a friend, never took a mean advantage of an antagonist.

Past Grand Adsit was all the most exacting can find expressed in those words - of deep and noble meaning, husband, father and friend. He loved home and family and all that make
both, dear to every-true man.

These are the sentiments of our brother Odd Fellow. Earnest Patriarch and Rebekah, Past Grand Adsit, who was buried from his home, with love and affection, the members of Cherokee lodge No. 188, consigned all that remained of a brother beloved, in the grave in the family lot, with
the beautiful Odd Fellows Ritual, on Friday, February 25, 1927, at the age of 94 year's, two months, eight, days.
Committee, -.
