Miss Cora Hind
The death of Mrs. Jesse Hind took from our midst one who will be missed by many in Washta. Her death came late Wednesday afternoon, May 13. The funeral services were held in Federated church and burial was in Sunset View cemetery Friday afternoon.
On April 7, 1876, in Benton county, Iowa, there was born to Mr. and Mrs. Philip Conley, a daughter, their first child, to whom was given the name Cora May. She came with her parents to Cherokee county when a child and grew to womanhood in the vicinity of Washta where she spent practically all her life.
On December 23, 1895 she was united in marriage to Jesse Hind and this union was blessed with the birth of a daughter Lettie, now Mrs. Jay Gano of Quimby.
During the past years Mrs. Hind has suffered greatly from the sickness which has afflicted her. Through this time she has received every consideration that loving hands could bring her. While in Larabee a year ago she was baptized in the Christian faith by Rev. Bryan of the Methodist church there. She was true to this faith which was n comfort to her through her long hours of pain.
Although the best medical advice and care had been summoned throughout her illness, Mrs. Hind's marvelous constitution gave way and she passed from this world May 13, 1931.
She leaves to mourn her loss, her devoted husband and daughter, Mrs. Jay Gano, one grandchild Dale Gano of Quimby; also her parents Mr. and Mrs. Philip Conley. She was the first of their large family of children to go and leaves behind six brothers, Edward, Ernest, Elmer, Oliver, Clifford and Allie, and three sisters Nina, Fern and Winnie, or Mrs. Ray Hamilaton.
Many neighbors and friends extend their sympathy to her loved ones, especially members of Rebekah Lodge No. 373 whith which she had long been affiliated.
