Raymond H. Kruse
PRIMGHAR, Iowa - Raymond H. Kruse, 82, of Primghar died Sunday, Jan. 11, 1998, at his residence.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at United Church of Primghar, with the Rev. Richard Dunn officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Aurelia, Iowa. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the Gaudian-Eldridge Funeral Home in Primghar.

Mr. Kruse was born May 26, 1915, near Aurelia, the son of Gust and Emma (Betcher) Kruse. He moved with his family into Aurelia as a child and graduated from Aurelia High School in 1933.

Following his graduation, he worked in the grocery business in Aurelia.

He married Ethel Johnson on Sept. 10, 1939, in Aurelia. In 1943, the couple moved to Sioux City, where he managed the Council Oak Grocery Store. They returned to Aurelia in 1947, and he operated the Kruse Grocery Store until 1960, when he started Kruse Produce.

Mrs. Kruse died in November 1973.

He married Joyce Schmitt on Nov. 25, 1977, in Primghar.

He was employed as a salesman with Electrolux until his retirement.

He was a member of United Church of Primghar and was active on the O'Brien County Fair Board. While living in Aurelia, he drove the school bus for 27 years and was a volunteer on the Aurelia Fire Department. He was a trumpet player with the Little German Band and directed the Aurelia Summer Band. He enjoyed bowling, fishing and pitching horse shoes.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Tom and his wife, Judy, of Cherokee, Iowa, Don and his wife, Jean, of Gowrie, Iowa, and Roger of Crofton, Md.; two stepsons and their wives, Kylon and Kathryn Schmitt of Winterset, Iowa, and Kevin and Tressie Schmitt of Broken Arrow, Okla.; a daughter and her husband, Jan and Ron Cuthrell of Tucson, Ariz.; a stepdaughter and her husband, Joy and Dan Meyer of Chandler, Ariz.; four grandchildren, Lori Howe, Tim Cuthrell and Scott and Stacy Kruse; eight stepgrandchildren, Sarah, Megann, Will, Greg, Sheldon and Staci Schmitt and Todd and Katie Meyer; a great-grandson; and a sister, Ruby Christensen of Aurelia.
