Mrs. Palas T. Young

The home of Mr. Palas T. Young and family of Afton Township has been invaded by the Angel of Death which claimed the spirit of the devoted and loving wife and mother, Mrs. Cora Chadd Young. Mrs. Young had been sick and under the doctor's care for three years and confined to her bed since February of this year. She was a patient and hopeful sufferer who wished to recover that she might fulfill her mission to her home and family. But the last enemy, Death, overwhelmed her physical body on July 27th, 1931, and her spirit took flight back to God who gave it, she having lived almost to the age of 57 years, her birthday falling on August 14th. Her birth place was Appanoose county, Iowa, and her marriage took place at Cassville, Missouri, where she became the wife of Palas Young some 38 years ago. To this union six children here born and their names and residences are as follows: Clyde of Danbury, Iowa; Claude of Cherokee; Mrs. Mona Hendrix of Natural Dam, Arkansas; Elbert of Cherokee; Mrs. Fay Pettengill of Cherokee; and Miss Helen at home. She had sisters and brothers with names and addresses as follows, Mrs. Towney Hickman, Mrs. Sam Trawbridge, Mrs. Dugan Looney, Ed Chadd and John Chadd of Washburn, Missouri; Lie Chadd of Pittsburg, Kan., and Lumm Chadd of Lutsville, Missouri. Mrs. Young leaves to mourn her loss her husband, and all the above mentioned and other relatives and friends who are sad at her departure.

The deceased has been a member of the Christian Church at Washburn, Missouri, since before her marriage. She had faith in Christ and loved to sing the Christian hymns, her choice hymn being "We'll Never Say Goodbye to Heaven." We hope that she has come to this happy realization as now she has passed "Through the Valley of the Shadow of Death." Funeral was preached July 29, at the recent home and burial was made at Afton.
