Effie Jane Coddington was born in Ogle county, Illinois Nov. 28, 1875 and came to Iowa at the age of three years. She was the eldest daughter of John and Sarah Coddington.
She was united in marriage to James H. Cave Jan. 26, 1899 at Storm Lake. The couple had one daughter, Eva.
Mrs. Cave passed away March 21, 1948 at her home in Cherokee at the age of 72 years, 3 months and 23 days.
Most of her life was spent on farms in Buena Vista and Cherokee counties until 1936 when she retired to her home in Cherokee.
She was baptized in the Methodist faith when she was a child.
She leaves to mourn her passing her daughter, Mrs. Elbert Young of this city. Her husband preceded her in death Jan. 16, 1929.
Others surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Booth and Mrs. Harriet Sigler, both of Webb, Ia.; three brothers, Will Coddington, Spencer, John of Spencer, and George of Webb. One sister, Mrs. Carrie Anderson, Preceded her in death. She was a failthful wife and mother and to know her was to love her.
