Marion F. Ogle, whose untimely death by accident, October 4, brought great sorrow not only to his immediate family but to all who knew him intimately, was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Ogle of Newton, Kan. He was a native of Cherokee county, havnig been born at Larrabee, May 6, 1888. He spent his early life on a farm in Spring township and moved with his parents to Kansas in 1908. After two years there, he went to California, where he remained two years. From the coast he returned to Cherokee county and entered the employment of his cousin, Frank E. Cave of Spring Township.

Answering the call to arms, he entered the military service in May, 1918, going to Camp Dodoge, where he was assigned to company M, 352d Infantry, 88th division. He was sent most immediately to France, landing there in August, 1918. He remained there for nine months and was on the firing line ready to march to Metz when the armistice was signed.

He returned to America in June, 1919, and once more too up his work on the Frank Cave farm in Spring township. While engaged in moving on the morning of October 4, he was accidentally thrown from the mower when the machine struck a rock. In the fall he was knocked unconscious, and as he fell, he was caught beneath one wheel of the mower which pinned him to the ground and resting across his chest and neck, choked him to death.

Funeral services were held Thursday, October 7, the sermon being by Rev. A.B. Thutt, pastor of the Presbyterian church of Cherokee. Military honors were paid the deceased by representatives of the American Legion.

Mr. Ogle is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Ogle of Newton, Kan. and five brothers and two sisters--Herman and Arthur of Burns, Wyoming; Daphne of Cherokee; Calvin of Cherokee, Emmett of Milton, Iowa; Alice, Ernest and Sadie of Newton, Kan. One brother, Wallace W., died in infancy.
