Obituary for Grace Effie Cave Young
(1897-1971)

Mrs. Grace E. Young, 74, died at 8:15 p.m. Monday at the Gregg Hilltop Nursing home in Cherokee following a short illness. She had been a resident of Cherokee practically all her life.

Born August 1, 1897 in Buena Vista County, the former Grace Cave married Claud E. Young on November 29, 1916. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.

Survivors are one son, Merlin of Estherville; one daughter, Mrs. Arthur (Lucille) Sleezer of Cherokee, seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband on July 3, 1969, and infant daughter, five brothers and one sister.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday fro the Boothby Funeral Home with Dr. V.V. Schuldt officiating. Burial will be in Afton Township Cemetery.

A family prayer service will be held at 1:15 Thursday at the funeral home.
