It is our sad duty to announce the taking away of a young life by that dread disease, diphtheria. Carl, the only child of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. S. Green, had been ill for a day or two and physicians after a careful examination pronounced it diptheria. Toward the end of last week his condition became serious, and Sunday the parents were told that he could not live. All that day and the night following he lingered in intense suffering, the disease each moment tightening its hold upon him, and Monday afternoon he died.
Carl was nearly seven years old. He was a bright-faced, good-hearted boy towards whom everybody felt kindly and was the light and joy of the household to which he belonged. The friends of the afflicted parents, while realizing they can do little to assuage such sorrow as theirs, deeply feel for them in their loss, and pray that the healing hands of time will bring consolation to their troubled hearts.
