Georgia M. Johnson, 80, of Cherokee, Iowa, died Friday March 27, 2009 in Mercy Medical Center, Sioux City, Iowa, following a brief illness.

Memorial services will be held Thursday, April 2, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. in the Trinity Lutheran Church, Cherokee, Iowa. Rev. Larry Lemke will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Cherokee, Iowa at a later date. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Greenwood Funeral Home, Cherokee, Iowa. Georgia was born May 20, 1928 in Rockford, Iowa to Fred and Clara (Burgess) Hansen. She attended school in Rockford, Iowa, graduating in 1946. On February 20, 1947 she married Don Johnson in Ames, Iowa. They moved to Cherokee, Iowa in 1951. She assisted Don in the Clinic Pharmacy from 1956 until retiring in 1993. She was a member of the Cherokee Country Club and Trinity Lutheran Church. Georgia enjoyed golf, arts and crafts, gardening, her church, and most of all, laughing with her family and many friends. She was a devoted mother and homemaker.

Survivors include her husband; sons, Jim Johnson, and his wife, Marlys, of Coeur D’ Alene, Idaho; Jeff Johnson, and his wife, Marlene, of Phoenix, Arizona; daughter, Christine Reno, of Englewood, Colorado; a sister, Virginia Jones, of Rockford, Iowa; 5 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson.

Georgia was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers (Roger and Robert) a great-grandson, (Ganyn).
