U.S. Veteran RONALD G. IGOU, 71, of Cherokee, Iowa passed away Wednesday afternoon, January 7, 2009 at the Cherokee Villa Nursing & Rehab Center following a several month illness.

Funeral services will be held Saturday , January 10th, at 11 a.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Pastor Richard Arndt will officiate. There will be military rites by L. A. Wescott Post #2253 of the V.F.W. at the funeral home on Saturday. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday with the family present from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home. Burial will be in the O’Brien- Liberty Township Cemetery, rural Calumet, Iowa at a later date. On line condolences may be sent to www.boothbyfuneral.com

Ronald was born February 16, 1937 at Dow City, Iowa to Glenn and Elva (Dalldorf) Igou. He attended Spirit Lake Schools. He served in the U. S. Marine Corp from 1954 until 1957. He was married to Kathy Hesse on August 9, 1980 in Cherokee, Iowa. He had farmed in the Cherokee and Marcus area, drove Mini-Bus and had also delivered flowers for Rhoadside Greenhouse, retiring in September of 2000. He was affiliated with the Missouri Synod Lutheran Church. He enjoyed woodworking, playing cards, collecting eagles and horse memorabilia, and watching All-Star Wrestling.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Tammy Igou, two grandsons Tyler and Trevor Nelson, a great granddaughter Zarah Johnson, and two sisters Joyce Bond and Glenda Updike.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy and five children: Terry Igou and his wife Karen of Hartley, Iowa; Ronda Johnson of Sheldon, Iowa; Glenn Igou of Onawa, Iowa; Marcia Farrell of Cherokee, Iowa; Tina Nelson of Whiting, Iowa; 15 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren; one sister Sharon Sleik and her husband Dean of Iron Mountain, Michigan; one brother Gale Igou and his wife Sandy of Spencer, Iowa.
