Eileen M. Schueder, 71, of Cherokee, died Monday Dec. 8, 2008 at the residence of her daughter following a lengthy illness.

Memorial services were held on Dec. 12 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cherokee, and burial will be in the Mount Calvary Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Greenwood Funeral Home in Cherokee. Online Greenwood Funeral Home in Cherokee is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Eileen was born on May 27, 1937 in Granville to Joseph and Agnes (Laddasaw) Schilmoeller. She graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1954, and went on to receive her teaching certificate at Briar Cliff College in 1956. On Nov. 22, 1956, she married Joseph Schueder in Granville. Eileen attended Westmar College and received her Bachelor of Education degree in 1969. Eileen loved teaching, and taught school from 1956 to 1992, and then substitute taught until 2003. She also enjoyed visiting and having coffee with friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph, on Oct. 15, 2002; her parents; a brother, Joseph Schilmoeller; four brothers-in-law,Wally Nilles, Elmer Theisen, Joe Cronin and Jack Schueder; and a sister-in-law, Fran Schilmoller.

Survivors include two daughters, Joleen Mews and her husband,Tim, of Calumet; and Jacqueline Wittkop and her husband, Dick, of Cherokee; two sons, James Schueder and his wife, Debra, of LeMars; and Joseph Schueder and his wife, Amanda, of Marion; five sisters, Vera Mae Nilles of Remsen; Joan Cronin of Marcus; Helen Theisen and her husband, Cyril, of Remsen; Janice Wurth and her husband, Dick, of Remsen; and Diane Haupert and her husband, Dennis, of Soddy Daisy, Tenn.; eight grandchildren, Tonya Smith and her husband, Justin; Adam Joines, and his wife, Sara; Abby Houston and her husband, Nate; Mike Wittkop; Adam Wittkop, and his wife, Jonelle; Bailey Schmidt, Ben Schmidt, Lauren Schueder; six great-grandchildren, Savannah Smith, Cameron Joines, Landon Joines, Addison Houston, Taylor Wittkop and Avery Wittkop; one brother and sister- in- law, Jim and Delores Schueder; and a sister-in-law, Jean Schueder.
