RONNY L. WEILAND
(June 28, 1937 - October 9, 2008)

Ronny L. Weiland, 71, of LeMars, Iowa, formerly of Cherokee, Iowa passed away Thursday, October 09, 2008 at the Good Samaritan Society of LeMars, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held Monday, October 13th, at 10:30 a.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Rev. Magrey deVega will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunset View Cemetery at Washta, Iowa. There will be military rites at the graveside by L. A. Wescott Post of the V.F.W. Visitation will be on Sunday from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home with the family present from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. with a prayer service at 6 p.m. On line condolences may be sent to www.boothbyfuneral.com

Ronny was born June 28, 1937 at Canistota, South Dakota to Earl and Lois (Tarrell) Weiland. He graduated from Quimby High Schol in 1955. He served in the U. S. Navy from June of 1955 until March of 1963. He was married to Coleen Sue Morrow on April 14, 1957 at Cherokee, Iowa. He had worked for Mangold Plumbing for 5 years and Wilson Foods for many years, retiring in 2000. He was affiliated with the United Methodist Church. He had been a resident of Cherokee most of his life and had also lived in LeMars, Iowa for 6 years. He enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening and especially time spent with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Coleen in 2003 and a great grandson Gabriel Clausen.

He is survived by four children: Ronette Schultzen and her husband Brian of Moville, Iowa; Marty Weiland and his wife Jean Ann of LeMars, Iowa; Teresa Peters and her husband Jeff of LeMars, Iowa; Terry Weiland and his wife Angie of Fostoria, Iowa; 12 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; four brothers: Eugene Weiland and his wife Bertha of Cherokee, Iowa; Darrell Weiland and his wife Diane of Cherokee, Iowa; Jerry Weiland and his wife Madeline of Hartford, Conn.; Wayne Weiland and his wife Kathy of South Sioux City, Nebraska.
