Dale Zimmer, 47, of Marcus died Thursday, Sept. 4, 2008, at his home from complications following surgery.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Holy Name Catholic Church in Marcus, with the Rev. Eugene Murray officiating. Burial will be in Maryhill Visitation Cemetery, rural Cherokee, Iowa. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Holy Name Catholic Church in Marcus. Arrangements are under the direction of Greenwood Funeral Home of Cherokee. Dale was born May 10, 1961, in Cherokee, to Floyd and Beulah (Creswell) Zimmer. He attended high school at Meriden-Cleghorn and graduated in 1979. Dale went on to attend college in Sheldon at NITCC. After his education, he returned home to farm with his father, Floyd.

On April 27, 1991, he married Kathy Reis at Maryhill Church in rural Cherokee. Dale enjoyed farming and going to sales and farm shows. He also enjoyed watching his children play sports. He was a member of the Cattleman's Association and Holy Name Catholic Church in Marcus.

Dale is survived by his wife, Kathy; two sons, John and Jeremy Zimmer of Marcus; a stepdaughter, Jennie Malone of Schleswig, Iowa; two grandchildren, Apryl Harkins and Sarah Harkins; his parents, Floyd and Beulah Zimmer of Cherokee; a sister, Diane Gruetzmacher and her husband, Bruce of Belle Plaine, Minn.; and his mother-in-law, Charlotte Reis of Holstein, Iowa.
