Katherine B. Meisinger, 91, of Cherokee, formerly of Plattsmouth, Neb., passed away on July 10, 2008 in the Cherokee Villa Nursing & Rehab Center in Cherokee.
Funeral services were held on July 15 at the First Presbyterian Church in Plattsmouth, Neb, with Pastor Ronald Van Houkelorn officiating. Burial was in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Plattsmouth, The Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee assisted the family with the local arrangements.
Katherine was born on Oct. 25, 1916 in Cass County, Nebraska to L.A. and Katie (Hild) Meisinger. She lived in the Plattsmouth area her entire life, until health issues caused her to move to Cherokee in 2005 to be near her niece.
Katherine worked as a young woman at the Masonic Home and during WW II, she worked on the Enola Gray B-52 Bomber at the Glen L. Martin Bomber Plant. She had also worked at Lugsch's Cleaners and retired from the Faberge Company in Omaha, where she had worked for many years.
Katherine was a member of the Eastern Star and First Presbyterian Church in Plattsmouth, where she belonged to circle, working many years on the rummage sales and chicken pot pie suppers. Her many friends will remember receiving beautiful trays of cookies at Christmas time. Though she never married, she was a devoted aunt to her two nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Clyde and Oliver, and sisters-in-law Idabell and Esther.
She is survived by her two nieces: Janelle Halliwell and her husband Warren of Moncks Corner, S.C.; Betty Berigan and her husband John of Cherokee; two great nieces: Christina and Magi Halliwell, as well as her life-long friend Josephine Hostetter, neighbors Tom & Eva Crosbie, and godson Dale Meisinger and his wife Donna of Omaha, Neb.
