Beverly J. Godfrey, 84, of Cherokee, former longtime rural Odebolt, Iowa, resident, passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at her residence following a lengthy illness.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, with the Rev. Dee Ann Klapp officiating. Burial will be in Sunset View Cemetery, Washta, Iowa. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6:30 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
Beverly was born Oct. 18, 1923, in Hartley, Iowa, to Louis and Lisette (Both) Stellish. She attended Hartley schools and graduated from Aurelia (Iowa) High School in 1942.
She was married to Ralph Godfrey on April 9, 1947, at the Methodist church in Cherokee. She had lived in Cherokee since November 2007. Prior to that, she lived on a farm near Odebolt for 37 years. She lived in the Washta, Iowa, community from 1947 to 1970.
She was a member of United Methodist Church in Odebolt. She enjoyed sewing and traveling.
She is survived by two sons and a daughter, Loren Godfrey of Cherokee, Darrell Godfrey and his wife, Vickie of Holstein, Iowa, and Darlys and her husband, Don Winebrinner of Goose Prairie, Wash.; four grandchildren; and a brother, Wayne Stellish of Cherokee.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
