Robert D. "Bob" Patterson, 73, of Cherokee, passed away Feb. 28, 2008 at his home, following an illness of several months.

Memorial services were held Monday, March 3 at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Pastor Jim Steen officiated. There was no visitation, as it was Bob's wish to be cremated.

Robert was born Dec. 6, 1934 in Cherokee, to James A. and Marion (Martin) Patterson. He graduated from Cherokee Wilson High School in 1953 and attended Iowa State University. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U. S. Army, and was married to Barbara Jean on July 2, 1983 at Arlington, Texas.

Bob lived in Cherokee the past four years, after residing in Los Fresnos, Texas for 20 years. Though he was originally from Cherokee. He was a self-employed contractor known to many as Bob the Builder, retiring in 2007. He enjoyed time spent with his family, traveling, playing cards and working.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Patricia Teske

He is survived by his wife Barbara, seven children: Richard R. Patterson and his wife Marilyn of Moline, Ill.; Donald D. Patterson and his wife Lilia of Scottsdale, Ariz.; Robert L. Patterson and his wife Susan of McKinney, Texas; Michelle Ann Rector of Cherokee; Faith Ibarra and her husband George of Haltom, City, Texas; Carol Patterson of Maypearl, Texas; Wesley Patterson and his wife Valarie of Cherokee; 26 grandchildren, five great grandchildren; one sister and one brother: Barbara Clabaugh and her husband Jim of Cherokee; Kenneth Patterson and his wife Kathy of Cherokee.
