Julia M. Patrick, 91, of Marcus - and formerly of rural Meriden and Cleghorn - passed away on Friday, Oct. 26, 2007, at 12:45 a.m. in the Heartland Care Center in Marcus.

Funeral services were held on Monday, Oct. 29, at 2 p.m. at the Grace United Methodist Church in Marcus. Pastor Gary McDonough officiated. Burial was in the Meriden Cemetery.

The Order of Eastern Star also had services on Sunday Nov. 4. at the funeral home.

Julia was born on Aug. 26, 1916 at Washta, to Thomas & Greta (Diefenbach) White. She graduated from Grand Meadow High School in 1934. She was married to Robert M. Patrick on Jan. 20, 1936 in Sioux City. Julia and Robert farmed in Cherokee and O'Brien County for many years, until she entered the Heartland Care Center in Nov. of 1996. Julia was a member of the St. Paul's United Methodist Church.

She was an active member of the Order of Eastern Star, and the Cherokee Federated Garden Club until her health failed. She enjoyed cooking large meals for her family, baking, canning, sewing, and spending time in her garden.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert M. Patrick on Dec. 1, 1994, a son D. Larry Patrick in 2006, a grandson Wyatt Patrick in 2005, two sisters and three brothers.

She is survived by one son and one daughter: Robert Dean Patrick and his wife Mary Sue of McCall, Idaho; Linda Rusk and her husband Garie of Sioux City; a daughter-in-law: Patty Patrick of Meriden; eight grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; one sister and one brother, Ruby Whiting of Aurelia and Kenneth White and his wife Bonnie of Wyoming, Minn.; a sister-in-law ,Ruth Stieneke of Washta; a brother-in-law, Reginald Patrick and his wife Joan of Los Molinos, Calif.; Carolyn Patrick of Emmett, Idaho; and many nieces and nephews.
