Robert A. Myers, 72, of Washta, died on Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2007 at his home in Washta.

Funeral services were held on Oct. 19 at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Pastor Bob Stout officiated.

Robert Myers was born July 31, 1935 at Lavinia, to Harry and Ruby (Pridemore) Myers. He attended Quimby Schools. He was married to Sybil Olsen, and later married Delores Huck. He was married to Doris Regennitter on Nov. 20, 1982 in Washta.

He owned and operated the Texaco Gas Station in Quimby for a number of years, and was a truck driver most of his life, retiring in 1985 due to severe back problems.

He had lived in Washta the past 25 years. Prior to that, he lived in Corydon, Storm Lake and Cushing, and was originally from Quimby. He was a member of the Quimby Baptist Church.

He enjoyed working with mechanical toys and gadgets. He worked on anything mechanical that wouldn’t run. He owned and drove stock cars for a number of years, loved watching NASCAR on TV, camping, fishing, dearly loved all his kids and dogs.

The last few months he enjoyed drinking cappuccino with Dorie, sitting at the patio table and backyard bird watching.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents and a daughter Pam Hodges.

He is survived by his wife, Dorie, his children and their spouses: Chuck & Missy Myers of Quimby; Bonnie & Nick Spotten of Quimby; Paul Myers of Marcus; Jason & Tonya Huck Gaborit of Schleswig; Wendy Wallace & Rusty Klein of Washta; Tina Huck of Odebolt; Teresa Huck of Odebolt; Tami & Ross Moeller of Denison; Ted & Kelley Huck of Longmont, Colo.; Tim Huck of Otto; Michelle & Bob McCampbell of Washta; Sherri & Kirk Ray of Washta; Paul King of Kingsley; Aaron & Wendy King of Aurora, Colo.; Shawn & Deanna King of Holstein; a son-in-law Pete Hodges of Sioux City and Daisy Duke Myers the dachshund that was his faithful companion; 40 beloved grandchildren and eight great grandchildren who were the love of his life.
