Margaret “Margie” Ann Ohlson, generous, courageous, and independent to the very end of her life, passed away peacefully Saturday, October 20, 2007 at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake, Iowa.

Funeral services for Margie will be held Wednesday October 24, 2007 at 10:30 A.M. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cherokee, Iowa, with Rev. Armand Bertrand officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery at Cherokee. Visitation will be Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a scripture service at 7:00 P.M. at the Greenwood Funeral Home in Cherokee. Margie was born August 26, 1923 in Cherokee, Iowa, the only child of Sherman and Edna Gill Woltman. She graduated in 1940 from Wilson High School in Cherokee. She attended Buena Vista College for one year and then received her R.N. from St. Joseph’s Mercy College of Nursing in 1944.

Margie married Filmore “Fil” Ohlson at Immaculate Conception in Cherokee, Iowa on March 5, 1946. They lived in Cherokee for many years before moving to Storm Lake in 1971. Margie spent many years as a nurse at Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital. She dedicated her life to caring for her family, patients, and friends.

Survivors include her three beloved sons – Danny L. of Portland, Oregon; Kelly of Fort Collins, Colorado; and Michael W. of West Union, Iowa; daughters-in-law Linda Stanley and Joleen Ohlson, and that very special light in her life, her granddaughter Samantha Erin Ohlson. She was preceded in death by her husband on June 7, 2001 and by her parents.
