Funeral Services for Ann M. Becker, 89, Cherokee, formerly of Aurelia, was at 11a.m. today, Mon. May 13, 2002, at the First United Methodist Church in Aurelia, with Rev. Jack Weida officiating. Burial is in the pleasant Hill cemetery here with the Redig Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Ann died Thurs. May 9, at Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital at Cherokee.
Ann M. Nordstrom was born Apr. 5, 1913, the daughter of Theodore and Edna (Ohlson) Nordstrom on the family farm north of Holstein. She attended Diamond township school and graduated from Galva High School in 1928. She attended Cedar Falls Teachers College and received her Rural Education Certificate in 1931.She taught rural schools in Cherokee and Ida counties.
On May 24th 1938, she married Vincent Becker at her parents home in Diamond Township, They farmed in Cherokee and Ida Counties before purchasing a farm in Buena Vista County. They retired and moved to Aurelia in 1973. They moved into The Beck in Cherokee in 1999. Ann was a charter member of the WSCS friendship Club and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Aurelia . She loved to travel and read.
Preceding her in death were her parents; 3 brothers, Wendell, Theodore, and Reitzell Nordstrom and 4 sisters, Murial Brickson, Faye Elder, Edna O'Neal, and Vera Andersen.
Survivors include her husband; her daughter, Theo and her husband Leonard Morlan of Lohrville; 5 step-grand-children, Joe and Joann Morlan; Wanda and her husband Mike Johnson; Jerry and his wife Peggy Morlan; Ilene and her husband Tom Young and Pattie Morlan and her friend Travis Turner. 9 step great grand-children and 1 step great great-grandson; 2 brothers-in-law , Oswald Andersen and Gene Elder. 2 sisters-in-law, Lucille Nordstrom and Cyrila Nordstrom and many nieces and nephews.
