Ruth E. Petlon, 84, of Aurelia, died on Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2007, at 5 a.m. in the Cherokee Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, August 11, at 11 a.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Pastor Larry Nilson officiating. Burial was in the Elk Township Cemetery, north of Alta.

Ruth was born on Nov. 18, 1922 at Iowa City. She graduated from high school. She lived with the Remillards and worked for Dr. Campbell in Sioux Rapids. She was married to Robert C. Petlon on Feb. 24, 1951 at Jackson, Minn. She was a devoted wife and mother. She loved to spend time with her family and she had a great sense of humor.

She is survived by her husband, Robert C. Petlon of Aurelia; four daughters and one son: Linda Adams of Sioux City; Lana Petlon of Aurelia; Barbara Cresap of Cherokee; Debra Petlon of Sioux City; Randy Petlon of Aurelia; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
