Arline Steemke, 83, of Aurelia, died on Friday, July 6, 2007 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City following a heart attack. Memorial services were Monday, July 16, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Aurelia, with Pastor Harold Werley officiating.

There will be no visitation. Internment will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Cherokee. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Aurelia Community Center in memory of Arline.

Arline Virginia Minard was born July 21, 1923 in Alta, the daughter of Warren E. and Florence (Tincknell) Minard. She graduated from the Alta High School in 1941. On Sept. 24, 1942 she married Loren Dale Steemke at the Methodist Church in Storm Lake. She was a nurse in Iowa and California for 30 years until her retirement in July of 1980. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Aurelia where she had been active in United Methodist Women and Circle. She was a member of Senior Citizens, and enjoyed knitting, playing cards, crocheting, and her grandchildren.

Preceding Arline in death were her parents, two sons, Ronald and Larry Steemke, two brothers, Craig and Lyle Minard, and one sister, Kay Alderson.

Survivors include her husband Loren Steemke of Aurelia, her son Donald and his wife Lisa Steemke of Aurelia, and daughter-in-law Susan Steemke of Aurelia and Los Angeles, six grandchildren; David Steemke of Grand Forks, N.D.; Kelly Wallace of San Diego, Calif.; Shannon Steemke of Gilbert, Ariz.; Shawn Steemke of Aurelia; Christina Steemke of Littleton, Colo.; and step-grandson Kevin Smith of Valley Springs, Calif.; and one great-grandson, Sean Loren Steemke of Aurelia. Also surviving are two brothers, Merrill and his wife Pat Minard of Hillsboro, Ore; and Wayne and his wife Wanda Minard of Sedalia, Colo; one sister, Marge LaClare of Gold Beach, Ore; two sisters-in-law, June Minard of Oklahoma and Charlene Minard of Alta; one brother-in-law, James Alderson of Chicago, Ill.; and many nieces and nephews and friends.
