Doris S. Fineran, 88 of Dakota City died Saturday, June 9, 2007 at a South Sioux City Care Center after a lengthy illness.

Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on today at Becker -- Hunt Funeral Home in South Sioux City with the Rev. Robert Call officiating. Graveside services will be 3 p.m. in Sunset View Cemetery at Washta. Visitation was held at the funeral home from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday and the family was present from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Doris was born Aug. 30, 1918, in Washta, the daughter of Samuel and Bertha (Stievers) Jenkins. She attended elementary school and graduated from Washta High School in 1936. She was a baptized and confirmed in the Methodist faith. She married Lyle J. Fineran Sept. 7, 1947 in Washta, Iowa. The couple moved to Sioux City until 1952 when they moved to Dakota City.

She was a member of the Dakota City United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, Royal Neighbors of America and the Literary Club.

Survivors include a son Dennis L. and his wife Marilyn Fineran of Craig, Colo., a sister-in-law Anna Jenkins of Washta, two grandsons: Jeremy and his fiancé Allissa and Jason all of Colo., several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband Lyle on April 5, 1994 in Dakota City, her parents, three brothers: Harold, Lowell and Lloyd Jenkins, two sisters: Verla and Audra, two brothers-in-law: Ed Kroll and Arthur Wells and a sister-in-law Darlene.
