Paul E. Pigott, 93, of Cherokee died Tuesday, June 12, 2007, at Country Side Estates following a brief illness.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cherokee, with the Revs. Armand Bertrand and Richard Ries officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, with a Scripture service at 7 p.m., at Greenwood Funeral Home in Cherokee. Condolences may be sent online to www.greenwoodfuneral.com.

Paul was born March 3, 1914, in Sheridan Township, rural Cherokee, to Joseph E. and Pearl (Alexander) Pigott. He attended school at Immaculate Conception School in Cherokee.

He married Mildred Reinert on May 29, 1933, in Cherokee. He later married Vera Erdman on Feb. 23, 1971, in Sioux City. She preceded him in death in 2000. He enjoyed farming, raising Black Angus cattle and farmed in Cherokee County his entire life.

He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He took great pride in keeping up his home and also working on his 1956 88 Olds convertible. He enjoyed having coffee with friends and story telling. He was a longtime member of the Cattlemen's Association.

Survivors include a daughter, Monica Robinson of Rapid City, S.D.; daughters-in-law, Donna and her husband, Jack Mummert of Plano, Texas, and Ruth Pigott of Kearney, Neb.; a sister, Bernice Eischen of Cherokee; two brothers and their wives, Leo and Nola Pigott of Hayward, Calif., and Bill and June Pigott of Cherokee; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Vera; two sons, Ronald and James Pigott; a sister, Cecelia May; and a brother-in-law, Freeman Eischen.
