Emma Mae Trapp, 80, of rural Washta, died Monday, April 2, 2007, at 9:10 p.m. at her home following a short illness.

Memorial services were held Friday, April 6 , at 11 a.m. at the Meadow Star United Methodist Church, rural Washta, with Pastor Bill Cotton officiating.

Burial was in the Sunset View Cemetery at Washta.

Emma was born Jan. 23, 1927 in Cherokee County, to James Ford Ralston and Belle Viola (Hunter) Ralston. She attended Washta Schools, and graduated from Grand Meadow High School. She was married to Dale Trapp on April 6, 1947 at Washta.

Emma lived in the Washta/Grand Meadow area most of her life, except for two years in Garden Grove, Calif. She worked at the bank in Washta, and she and her husband farmed in Grand Meadow Township for many years.

She was a member of the Meadow Star United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. Emma enjoyed nature, sports and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, on Dec. 7, 1987, a sister and brother-in-law Ella and C. J. Barwick, brothers-in-law Loren Trapp, Merle Trapp, Leo Trapp and John Schneider, and her father and mother-in-law David and Ruby Trapp.

She is survived by one son and three daughters: Larry Trapp and his wife Donna of Washta; Leila Culler and her husband David of Pierson; Susan Parcel and her husband Kevin of Washta; Bonnie Corrington and her husband Steve of Washta; eight grandchildren: Casey (Shannon) Trapp, Kyle (Sheila) Trapp, Aaron Culler, Brian Culler, Erin Phelps, Joshua Parcel, Kathrine Parcel, Patrick Parcel; seven great grandchildren: Alyssa, Garrett, Emma, Ruby, Jalen, Kelsey and Trey; sisters-in-law: Elaine Trapp, Jane Trapp, Janice Trapp, Elsie Schneider, Marge Gross, Darlene Roberts and her husband Dean; a brother-in-law Dean Trapp and his wife Bev.
