DANIEL LEO CAMPBELL III
Daniel Leo Campbell III, 56, died Sunday, December 3, 2006 at the home of his sister in Littleton, Colorado.
Dan was born May 3, 1950 in Cherokee, Iowa to Daniel Leo and Betty (Volkert) Campbell. He was educated in Cherokee, Iowa, graduating from Immaculate Conception High School in 1968. He graduated from the University of Iowa and the University of Iowa School of Physical Therapy. He was a sports therapist for the University of Wisconsin and most recently was employed in Rochester, Minnesota as the coordinator of athletic training services at the Mayo Clinic Sports Medicine Center.
Dan dedicated his life to the improvement of the athletic training profession and the care of athletes beyond the call of duty. He served in many capacities with the National Athletic Trainers Association over the years. He was a well regarded practitioner and mentor and received numerous awards for service to his profession. Survivors include his daughters, Hillary Wynne Miller, and her husband, Michael, and their children, Aaron, Morgan, Gregory, and Thomas; Dorea Rae Hauge, and her daughter, Abigail; his younger sister, Alicia Jean Masock, and her husband, Ron, and their son, Kerry.
