1901-1989
Mrs. Harry ( Ruth) Mummert, 87, lifelong resident of Cherokee, died Friday, Apr. 28th at Hilltop Care Center in Cherokee.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. , in the Immaculate Coception Church in Cherokee with the Rev. Richard Reis officiating. Burial will be in the Mount Calvary Cemetery. Services by the Daughters Of The American Revolution will be at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Greenwood Funeral Home. There will be a rosary by the parish at 7:30 p.m.; and one by Catholic Daughters of America at 8:00 Tues. at the funeral home.
Ruth was born July 20, 1901, to Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Gifford of Cherokee. She married Harry Mummert June, 21, 1922.
Ruth was a member of the Degree of Honor, Veterans of Foreign Wars Aux., the DAR Catholic Daughters and the Mayflower Organization
Survivors include six sons; Dean, Keith James and Lyle of Cherokee, Richard of El Cajon, Ca.; John (Jack) of Orange, Ca., Philip of Carrollton, TX. 1 daughter, Rita Carlson and her husband Dale of Fairbanks AK. 1 brother, Dale Gifford of Cherokee; 1 sister, Vivian and her husband Ed Fountain of Bel Air, Ca.; 25 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Oct. 3, 1980; 2 sons, Gerald and Donald, 1 grandson and 2 great-grandsons.
