Olive M. Beeson, 86, of Cherokee, Iowa died Monday November 6, 2006 at the Cherokee Villa Nursing Home and Rehab Center following a brief illness.

Services will be held Monday November 13, 2006 at 10:30 A.M. at the St. John’s Catholic Church in Quimby. Father Armand Bertrand will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Anthon, Iowa. Visitation will be held Sunday from 9:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. at the Greenwood Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Olive was born on April 10, 1920 in Ida County to Oscar and Sophia (Reinbold) Dessel. In 1930 she moved with her parents from South Dakota to Washta, Iowa. She graduated from Washta High School in 1938. In that same year she married Darrel Beeson. Olive was a homemaker and stay at home mom. She enjoyed church work and was past president of St. Helen’s Guild of St. John’s Catholic Church of Quimby, Iowa. She was also a 50 year member of the church. She was also past president of the Washta Study Club, Hobby Club and Painting Club. She enjoyed craft making, painting, sewing and cooking, and was an expert seamstress.

Survivors include two daughters; Patricia Hentz and her husband, Jerry, of Bedford, Texas, Mary Larson and her husband, Bill, of Cherokee, Iowa; a sister; Dorothy Mundy of Lawton, Iowa; a brother; Kenneth Dessel of Sarasota, Florida; six grandchildren; Larry Meyer and his wife Kathe, Paul Meyer and his wife Lisa, Sheryl Kolb and her husband Eric, Heather Larson-Frederick and her husband Jeremy, Stacy Vostad and her husband Jeff, Terri Fredrichsen and her husband Jeff; 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Darrel (2001); infant son Thomas (1943); two brothers Delbert and Joe Dessel.
