Samuel J. CampbellSamuel J. Campbell, 88, died Saturday at 4:45 a.m. in Cherokee following a six-month illness. His home was in Quimby where he had lived since 1928.
Survivors include: two daughters, Mrs. Forrest (Jesse) Thomson, Quimby and Mrs. Adolph (Dorothy) Hempel, Cherokee; one son, Howard E. Campbell, Colorado Spring, Colo.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was born Sept. 27, 1878 in Cherokee County and farmed in the Mount Olive and Quimby areas for many years. He was a member of Quimby Methodist Church.
He was married to Margaret Cunningham, Feb. 8, 1908 in Mount Olive. She preceded him in death, May 21, 1958. He was also preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, one brother and one grandson.
Funeral services were held Monday at 2 p.m. from the Quimby Methodist church with Rev. Harlan Faris officiating. Burial was in the Quimby Cemetery. Boothby Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
