Ernest Crane, 64, died Tuesday at a Des Moines Hospital after a long illness. Born Apr.11, 1903 at Ida Grove, he moved to Cherokee where he lived until moving to Calif. in 1951.

In 1965. he moved to Aurelia after retirement .
Having served with the 47th Div. in Europe during WW I , he was a member of both the Cherokee VFW and the Aurelia American Legion.
Surviving are the widow, Mildred and a step-son Dick Fassler.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 sons Ernest Jr. and Lyle.
He had 4 brothers, Lewis, Elden, Leonard and Thomas and 2 sisters, Mrs. John Shutte and Mrs LeRoy Moyer

Funeral services were held at 2:00 from the Wharton Funeral Home in Aurelia with the Rev. Jack Speer of Aurelia Methodist Church officiating and buriel in Oak Hill Cemetery in Cherokee.
