Alfred Dewayne Donahue, 56, of rural Aurelia, died Sunday evening, October 30, 2005 in the Rochester Methodist Hospital following a lengthy illness.
Celebration of Life services were held on Thursday, November 3, at 2 p.m. at the Summit Evangelical Free Church, at Alta. Pastor Doug Corlew officiated. Burial was in the Afton Township Cemetery, rural Cherokee. Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee was in charge of the arrangements.
Alfred was born on August 12, 1949, at Conway to Charles and Ruby(Pittsenbarger)Donahue. He graduated from Farragut High School in 1967. He was married to Glenda Sue Phipps on September 15, 1967, and to this union, four children were born. He was later married to Sandra Melton Klaschen on March 30, 1996 in Cherokee. He had worked for Hygrade Foods in Clarinda from 1968 and then for Wilson Foods until the plant closed in 1991 and he relocated to Cherokee where he worked for Wilson Foods, Doskocil, Continental Deli, and was currently working for Tyson Foods.
He was preceded in death by his father Charles Alfred Donahue, his grandparents, his mother-in-law, Frances Melton, and several aunts and uncles.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra, four children: Brian Donahue and wife Debbie of Hartley; Craig Donahue of Erie, Colo.: Donni Donahue of Omaha, Neb.; Kimberly(Quentin) Yost of Eaton, Colo; Two stepchildren: Christopher Klaschen and Marie Klaschen both of Aurelia; many grandchildren, his mother Ruby Irene Donahue of Tabor; 3 brothers and 6 sisters: Ed(Linda) Donahue of Highland, Kan.; Carolyn(Rex) Travis of Thurman;Gene Donahue of Tabor; Marilyn Reed of Tabor;Mary Alice Donahue of Tabor; Cecilia(Gene) Foral of Council Bluffs;Ray(Mary) Donahue of Ellensburg, Washington; Judy(Leon) Schwartz of Greenfield; Rita(Dave) Bristol of Fremont, Neb.; father-in-law Alvin "Bill" Melton of Cherokee; Brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Danny(Donna) Melton of Conn.; Rodney Melton of Cherokee; Roger(Lisa Dawn) Melton of Ponder, Texas; Cindy (Alan) Phipps of Cherokee; Linda(Barry) Hanson of Milford;Kevin(Patty) Melton of Cherokee; Michele(Brian) Schnoes of Meriden; also aunts, uncles, nephews and nieces and many friends.
