CHEROKEE, Iowa -- Ethel M. Wahl, 94, of Waterloo, Iowa, formerly of Cherokee, died Friday, June 24, 2005, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo.

Services will be 11 a.m. today at First United Methodist Church in Waterloo. Burial will be in Waterloo Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service today at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Parrott and Wood Chapel of Memories in Waterloo. Condolences may be sent on-line at www.overtonservice.com .

Ethel M. Wahl was born Feb. 5, 1911, in Cherokee, the daughter of Thomas and Etta Mae (Kennedy) Dawson. She married Raymond E. "Ray" Wahl on Sept. 5, 1940, in Raton, N.M. He preceded her in death on June 21, 1994.

She enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing and the couple enjoyed golfing. The family loved to travel.

Survivors include three nephews, Robert "Bob" Goodrich and his wife, Carol, of New Hartford, Iowa, Jim Goodrich and his wife, Shirley, of Duluth, Minn., and Richard Steimke of Minneapolis; and a niece and her husband, Linda and Bob Youde of McCall, Idaho.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ray; her parents; a daughter, Karla Wahl; and two sisters, Mabel Arenholz and Gladys Steimke.

Ethel will be missed by all who knew her.
