Mildred P. McCord

Mildred Pearle McCord, 92, of Sioux City died Monday, Sept. 26, 2005, at her residence.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Westminster Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Richard Francis officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Cherokee, Iowa. Visitation with the family present will be 4 to 8 p.m. today at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel.

Mildred was born Dec. 25, 1912, to Reginald Arthur and Pearle Mae (Bridgette) Patrick, in Birchton Quebec, Canada. The family moved to the United States when she was an infant. She graduated from Meriden (Iowa) High School and attended business college in Cherokee, Iowa.

On Dec. 7, 1935, she married Robert Howard McCord in Cherokee. The couple made their home there. In 1942, the couple moved to Sioux City until 1953, when they moved to Allen, Neb. and purchased the Chevrolet dealership. She became the bookkeeper for McCord Chevrolet, retiring in 1977. The couple wintered in the McAllen, Texas area for 12 years. They moved back to Sioux City in 1989. Mr. McCord died Jan. 16, 1998. She moved to the Bickford Cottage assisted living in 2003.

She was a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star of Allen, Neb., where she was a past Worthy Matron and held other offices. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Sioux City. She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting beautiful items for her family. She was a wonderful homemaker and her favorite past-time was spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Garold and Marlene McCord of Aloha, Ore.; two daughters and their husbands, Karan and Gerald McManis of Omaha and Patricia and Richard Wyant of Sioux City; a sister, Ruth Stieneke of Washta, Iowa; a brother and his wife, Reginald and Joan Patrick Jr. of Los Molinos, Calif.; a sister-in-law, Julia Patrick of Marcus, Iowa; 14 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert; a brother, Robert Patrick; a sister, Ellen Dunn; and two brothers-in-law, Harold Dunn and Alva Stieneke.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons and a great-grandson.
