Harold M. Crocker

CORRECTIONVILLE, Iowa -- Harold M. Crocker, 78, of Correctionville passed away Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2005, at the Correctionville Nursing & Rehab Center following a long illness.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa, with Cliff Cockburn officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Cherokee. A family prayer service will be held Friday at 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home. Visitation will be Thursday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., with the family present from 6:30 to 8 p.m., and a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home.

Harold was born on April 1, 1926, at rural Marcus, Iowa, to Frank and Pearl (Coburn) Crocker. He attended Cherokee and Grand Meadow schools.

He was married to Luella Peters on July 11, 1950, at Slayton, Minn. He and his wife moved to a farm southwest of Washta, Iowa, in March of 1951, and he resided there until entering the nursing home on May 12, 2004.

He had farmed most of his life until his health failed. He sold Pioneer and then Garst seed corn for 35 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and visiting with people.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Luella; a daughter, Carol Peterson and her husband, Richard, of Garner, Iowa,; a son, Clarke Crocker and his wife, Elizabeth, of Washta, Iowa; three grandchildren, Cameron, Aaron and Colton Crocker; two stepgrandchildren, Gina and Danny Cunningham and their family of Perry, Iowa, and Daniel and Liz Peterson and their family of Marion, Iowa; a brother, Delbert Crocker and his wife, Beulah of Cherokee, Iowa; two sisters, Doris Vaughn of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Alice Ronning of St. Paul, Minn.; a sister-in-law, Virginia Crocker of Cherokee; a sister-in-law, Bonnie Zoch and her husband, Marvin, of Cherokee; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Charles Crocker; a sister, Helen Ehmcke; and a sister in infancy.
