CHEROKEE, Iowa -- Lincoln F. "Link" McCormick, 90, of Cherokee died Sunday, Sept. 4, 2005, at Cherokee Villa in Cherokee following a brief illness.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Greenwood Funeral Home in Cherokee, with Ron Brown officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. today, with the family present 6:30 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent on-line to www.greenwoodfuneral.com .
Link was born Aug. 19, 1915, in Red Eye County, near Wadena, Minn., to John B. and Anna (Dorn) McCormick. He attended school in Wadena. Following his schooling, he worked as a hired farm hand for several years.
On Dec. 28, 1941, he married Edna Nohrenberg in Nimrod, Minn. She preceded him in death on April 22, 2003.
The couple moved to Iowa in 1952, where he worked for P.G. Gray's chicken processing plant for many years. They also owned and operated the Estherville (Iowa) Laundromat. Following their retirement in 1987, they moved to Jackson, Minn., until moving to Cherokee in 2002.
He enjoyed his family, fishing, playing cards as well as playing practical jokes. He was Santa Claus for many years in the Estherville, Iowa, and Jackson, Minn., areas. The couple were chosen as king and queen of the Senior Citizens Group in Jackson, Minn.
Survivors include his daughters, Doris McNeely of Des Moines, Dee and her husband, Gerald Iseminger of Estherville and Patsy and her husband, Jerome Day of Cherokee; a son and his wife, Philip and Christi McCormick of Clear Lake, Iowa; brothers, Bill McCormick and Pat McCormick and his wife, Elaine, all of Sebeka, Minn.; nine grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; sisters, Elizabeth, Mary and Julia; and brothers, John "Jack", Elmer and Mike.
