CHEROKEE, Iowa -- Susana M. Fuller, 103, of Cherokee died Thursday, June 23, 2005, at Cherokee Villa Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following a brief illness.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cherokee, with the Rev. Armand Bertrand officiating. Burial will be in Maryhill Visitation Church Cemetery. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, with a Catholic Daughters of America rosary at 4 p.m. and a Scripture service at 7 p.m., at Greenwood Funeral Home in Cherokee.
Mrs. Fuller was born March 8, 1902, in Sheridan Township, Cherokee County, Iowa, to John and Anna (Kohn) Specht. She attended schools in Maryhill. Following her schooling, she stayed on the family farm for several years.
On April 30, 1923, she married John "Jack" Fuller in Cherokee. He preceded her in death on June 19, 1975. They lived in Meriden, Iowa, for several years before moving to their family farm north of Maryhill. They lived on the family until John's death in 1975. She moved to Cherokee in 1975.
She was a member of Catholic Daughters of America, Ladies Union, Gold Star Mother's and Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She worked hard all of her life. She enjoyed her religion and growing flowers. She had crocheted more than 100 afghans for family members and friends.
Survivors include three daughters, Corrinne McCarthy of Cherokee, Monica and her husband, Robert Jensen of Milford, Iowa, and Juanita and her husband, Gordon Jensen of Oakhurst, Calif.; grandchildren, Daniel McCarthy of Crystal Lake, Ill., Deborah and her husband, Mark Ammons of Sioux City, Holly Hill of Coralville, Iowa, Patricia Stanzel of Cherokee, Terry McCarthy and his wife, Linda of Elgin, Ill., John McCarthy of Sioux City, Susanne Bicknese of Arnolds Park, Iowa, and Pamela and her husband, Don Gude of Milford, Iowa; 10 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Daniel in 1944; a grandson in 1955; and nine brothers and sisters.
