John R. Murray
John Raymond Murray, 69, of Sioux City died Friday, Aug. 25, 2006, at a Rochester, Minn., hospital.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with the Rev. Daniel G. Guenther officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel.
Mr. Murray was born Sept. 24, 1936, in Cherokee, Iowa, the son of Raymond Edward and Gladys Mae (Robeson) Murray. He was raised in the Spencer, Iowa, area and later moved to the Bronson, Iowa, area. He graduated from Bronson High School in 1955. He had resided in Sioux City since 1954.
He married Jacqueline Jean Card on June 21, 1958. He was a heavy equipment operator for Christiansen Brothers for 42 years.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He enjoyed carpentry, watching movies, traveling and spending time with his family. Most of all, he just enjoyed the simple things in life.
Survivors include his wife, Jacqueline Jean Murray of Sioux City; three sons, Jeffrey and Joanne Murray of Alexandria, Va., Donald and Barbara Murray of Sioux City and Michael Murray of Sioux City; three grandchildren, David, Nathan and Shelby Murray; a sister, Margaret "Peggy" and Tim Neuroth of Sioux City; and two brothers, Joseph and Diane Murray of Fayetteville, N.C., and Patrick Murray of Sioux City.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Joan Rye.
