Loren E. Corrington, 77, of Nevis, Minnesota, and formerly of Cherokee, Iowa, died Wednesday, January 11, 2006 in Des Moines, Iowa, following a lengthy illness.

Services will be held Monday January 16, 2006 at 10:30 A.M. at Greenwood Funeral Home, Cherokee, Iowa. Pastor James Steen will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery Cherokee, Iowa. Visitation will be Sunday, from noon to 8:00 P.M., with the family present from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent to www.greenwoodfuneral.com .

Loren was born August 22, 1928 in Silver Township, Cherokee County, Iowa to Arthur and Mary Corrington. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Loren lived in Cherokee, Iowa for many years, where he worked as a USDA Federal Meat Inspector.

He retired in 1989 and moved to Nevis, Minnesota and also enjoyed wintering in the south.

Memorial contributions are requested for the Iowa Health Taylor House of Des Moines, Iowa or the Bethany Lutheran Church building fund in Nevis, Minnesota.

He is lovingly survived by his wife, Neva; son, Kirby Corrington, and his wife, Maria, of Las Vegas, Nevada; daughters, Kim Means, and her husband, Dave, of Spirit Lake, Iowa; Kaye Halvorson, and her husband, Paul, of Johnston, Iowa; step-sons, Roger Keepers, and his wife, Elaine, of Chadron, Nebraska; Craig Keepers, and his wife, Jennie, of Eden Prairie, Minnesota; a step-daughter, Jackie Williams, and her husband, Randy, of Des Moines, Iowa; grandchildren, Mark and Masie Corrington, of Las Vegas, Nevada; Renee Evans and John Means, of Spirit Lake, Iowa; Sarah Carlson, of Austin, Texas; step-grandchildren include Tyler Williams and his wife, Kelly, of Gurnee, Illinois; Abbey Williams, of Chicago, Illinois; Leslie and Laura Keepers, of Chadron Nebraska; Kara and Brian Keepers, of Eden Prairie, Minnesota; Stephanie Svee, and her husband, Kent, of Minneapolis, Minnesota; Kirsten Block, and her husband, Scott, of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota; 9 great grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie; parents; 2 brothers, Vernon “Buzz” Corrington and Keith “Tiny” Corrington.
