David H. Timmins, 57, of Cherokee, Iowa died Friday, August 25, 2006 at the Cherokee Regional Medical Center following a lengthy illness.

Memorial services will be held Monday at 11:00 A.M. at the Greenwood Funeral Home, Cherokee, Iowa. Rev. Armand Bertrand will officiate. His body was cremated and there will be no visitation. Online condolences may be sent to www.greenwoodfuneral.com

David was born October 2, 1948 in Cherokee, Iowa to Harold and Florence (Cowan) Timmins. He attended school in Cherokee, graduating from Immaculate Conception High School in 1967. He attended college at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin until 1971. David returned to Cherokee and was a partner in Timmins Real Estate and Insurance from 1971 to 1979. In 1979 he moved to California and took "early retirement". He returned to Cherokee in 1988 to be near his mother and daughter. He married Barbara Bakker in Cherokee, Iowa in 1989. David was employed with Haselhoff Construction until 2003.

Survivors include his wife; daughters, Stacy Wittrock, and her husband, Jared, of Iowa City, Iowa; Patrice Noble and her husband, Lance, of Cedar Falls, Iowa; son, Ron Mortensen, of Iowa City, Iowa; grandchildren, Jack, Anna, Madalyn; his mother Florence Timmins, of Cherokee, Iowa; sister, Nancy Nadolski, of Las Vegas, Nevada.

He was preceded in death by his father (Harold, 1977) brother (Robert) his sister (Marianne).
