Warren F. Uhl, 85, Cherokee, died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2006, at his home following a brief illness.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cherokee. Rev. Armand Bertrand will officiate. Burial will be in the Mount Calvary Cemetery in Cherokee.

Visitation will be Friday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., with a scripture service at 7 p.m., followed by a rosary at 7:30 p.m., with the Knights of Columbus at Greenwood Funeral Home in Cherokee.

Warren was born July 13, 1921 in Mapleton to Casper and Esther (Chedester) Uhl. He attended school in Castana and graduated from high school in 1940, He farmed in the Castana area for several years before moving to California to work for Lockheed Aircraft. he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. Following his military service, Warren returned to Castana and later Blencoe to farm.

On Sept. 5, 1946, he married Adeline Stanislav in Blencoe. They moved to Cherokee in 1965 and Warren worked at various businesses until he opened Cherokee Camper Sales in 1972.

Warren was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and the V.F.W. He enjoyed traveling and wintering in Florida.

Survivors include his wife, Adeline; sons, James Uhl, and his wife, Lizette, and their children Jessica and Charlie, of Knoxville, Iowa; Dan Uhl of Denver, Colo.; sisters Evelyn Brenner of Scottsdale, Ariz.; Wilma Jean Keitges, and her husband, Gene, of Phoenix, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Florine Brenner.
