Passing of Mrs. A.G. Mongan

Young wife and mother passes away Sunday-Funeral Today

Mrs. Irene Mongan, wife of Arthur G. Mongan, died Sunday morning about 6 o'clock after suffering for a long time. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon at the Baptist church by Rev. C.W. Farwell of Omaha, after which interment was made in Oak Hill cemetery.

Irene Ethel Mosier, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E.A. Mossier, was born at Cherokee, July 14, 1903, where she lived all her life. Hers was a plain, simple life filled with loving service and devotion to her friends. She was married to Arthur G. Mongan May 19, 1922, and for several years she lived a happy life until her health began to fail in November of 1924.

December 15, 1925, she underwent a severe operation in St. Joseph hospital at Sioux City. It soon became apparent that there were no hopes for her recovery, but every effort was made to make her last days as happy and comfortable as possible. During the remaining four months of her life she was remarkably hopeful and courageous, and deeply appreciative of the many kind attentions shown her by her numerous friends. In fact, the last day before she died she was the most cheerful she had been for weeks. She died quietly Sunday morning at 5:50. Her death, though expected, was sudden and a great shock to all.

Irene was an earnest Christian girl, having a rich experience and a close communion with her Master. She often remarked, "I could not stand my suffering if the Lord did not help me." Only a Christian could have suffered so patiently. Everyone who knew her loved her.

Besides her many friends she leaves to mourn her husband, Arthur G. Mongan and Eugene, her only child, 3 years old, also her parents Mr. and Mrs. E.A. Mosier, and four brothers, Forrest, Gerald, Edwin and Erle, and four sisters, Mrs. S. Beyn, Ruth, Lillian and Lucile. All were present except Forrest who is with the U.S. Navy
