DEATH OF V.A. DUBEL

A Well-known Citizen of This County Dies Suddenly at Sheldon

Last week V.A. Dubel, the Washta blacksmith, went to George, in Lyon county, to visit his son C.A. Dubel, who is principal of the George schools. After his visit he went to Sheldon to spend a day or so with some G.A.R. friends residing there. On Thursday he was found in his room in a helpless condition and was taken care of. He died about 6 o’clock on Friday evening. Press reports were sent out to he effect that Mr. Dubel had committed suicide by taking laudanum. This would seem to be erroneous. We have seen the certificate of F.W. Cram, coroner of O’Brien county, which states distinctly that the cause of death was apoplexy.

The remains were brought ot Cherokee on Saturday evening’s train and were taken in charge by a delegation of G.A.R. men. On Sunday a delegation from the Correctionville post, of which the deceased was a member, came up and took charge of the body, removing it to Quimby for burial.

The deceased was 55 years of age. He operated a blacksmith shop at Quimby for some time and recently removed to Washta. His family reside at Quimby. His son from George accompanied the remains to Quimby. The shock of his family was as severe one, and to his friends a surprise. The sympathy of a host of friends is extended the bereaved ones.
