Has a Harvest Time in Cherokee-Old Pioneers Going…

MOLYNEUX

Henry Molyneux was born January 18, 1814, in Sullivan county, PA., and departed this life Jan. 21, 1892 thus being at the time of his death 78 years of age. May 27, 1847, he was united in marriage with Ellen Warburton. Their married life continued for nearly half a century. In the spring of 1867 deceased moved from Pennsylvania to Cherokee county, where he resided until the time of his death. He was one of the old settlers of the county and knew well the hardships which usually accompany the early settlers in a new country. He was known as a man of sterling integrity and upright dealing; a plan, matter-of-fact man, who loved truth and sincerity. He was respected and loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed in the community where he had lived so long. He was a true Christian, and during his last sickness his firm faith and abiding trust were manifest. Christ was to him a personal savior. When such men die heaven is richer and earth poorer.

The funeral services were held in the Wesleyan church, of which he was a faithful member. A very large concourse of people were present, showing the high esteem in which he was held by his old friends and neighbors. Rev. W.L. Ferris, assisted by Rev. Sage conducted the services. The sermon was from Phil. 3:27. A loved companion, three sons and a daughter are left to honor the memory and mourn the loss of one gone before. Truly, “the memory of the just is blessed.”
