MARRIED

HUGHES-WARD-At the residence of the bride’s brother, Mr. J.W. Ward, Monday, Oct. 14, 1889, Mr. Frank W. Hughes and Miss Kate N. Ward, Rev. J. MacAllister officiating.

This interesting event so long looked for was quietly consummated at 10 o’clock Monday forenoon. Besides the members of the family the only guests present were Mr. and Mrs. G.R. Turner and Miss Anna Conant. The ceremony was very beautiful, the marriage ring being used. The bride was attired in a lovely gown of ecru surah, and of course the groom looked handsome and manly in the conventional black.

Mr. Hughes is a very popular conductor on the Illinois Central, a genial gentleman with a host of friends all along the line who will hope that there may be few collisions and no jumping the track in this future experience. The bride has spent the past two years with her brother here. As deputy postmistress she became well known, and by her kindly disposition has made many warm friends. They start out on the journey of life most auspiciously, and our congratulations are most hearty.

At 11:30 the happy couple left for a trip to Chicago and other points. After Nov. 14th they will be at home to their friends in the house now occupied by Mr. Cole on Piety Hill.
