Among the social events of last week was the marriage of Mr. John Dorr, Jr., of Amherst, to Miss Sophiah Glade of Sibley, Iowa on Wednesday, May 27, the Rev. J. Shinnerer officiating. The bride is an estimable young lady from a highly respected family of the above place. The groom is one of Amherst’s best young men who needs no recommendation, we all know him and wish them both a long and happy life. After the celebration of their wedding at the home of the brides’ parents and the reception of numerous valuable gifts the happy pair, accompanied by some of the brides’ relatives and friends, took their departure for Amherst, where they arrived Saturday morning. Here between eighty and ninety of the guests, including the Amherst cornet band, gathered to celebrate the wedding a second time, to do honor to the newly-made man and wife, and to do justice to one of the most delicious dinners of the times.
