HAPPILY WEDDED

Marriage of Mr. Thos. McCulla and Miss Carrie Ellen Cleaves.

A notable event the past week was the marriage of Thos. McCulla and Miss Carrie Ellen Cleaves, which took place at the home of the bride’s parents, Dr. and Mrs. R.L. Cleaves, on Thursday evening, June 27. The ceremony was performed at 6:30 p.m. in the presence of nearly 100 guests, the officiating clergyman being Rev. Walter Ferris, who was assisted by Rev. W.G. Johnson of Peterson. The arrangements were elaborate and the plans were carried out with a nicety that was pleasing to the guests. The elegant home was handsomely decorated with flowers and plants, and the south bay window, where the couple stood, was like a fairy bower with its profusion of ferns and roses, overhanging which was a beautiful bow and arrow. Promptly at the hour named Mrs. Bessie Thompson started the wedding march. The passage way to the bay window was girded by heavy white ribbon, gracefully held by Misses Bertha and Nina Cleaves, Mr. Ed Cleaves and Mr. Cleaves Bennett. The bridal couple were led by Helene Townsend, as flower girl, and were otherwise unattended.

The bride wore a handsome gown of white corded silk, trimmed with pearl passementerie. Miss Bertha Cleaves looked charming in a dress of blue satin, cut décolleté, and Miss Nina was her own self in a gown of pure white.

After the ceremony and congratulations tables were spread throughout the rooms and a very elaborate wedding feast served. The gifts to the bride were numerous and costly and were viewed by the guests with many expressions of admiration.

At 9:40 the couple started on their wedding trip to Minnetonka and other pleasure resorts. They went by rail to Dubuque and then by boat to St. Paul, expecting to be gone two weeks. There was a large assemblage of friends at the depot, also a big shower of rice and good wishes.

Among the guests were Mrs. McCulla, mother of the groom, and his sister, from Niobrara, Neb.
