Happily Wedded

On the 17th day of September, at the Catholic church in this city, occurred the marriage of Mr. Peter Lux and Miss Katie Begler, Rev. Father Saunders officiating. The groom was attired in a suit of black, which set off a noble figure of manly symmetry. The bride wore a beautiful costume of light blue silk and large fine bridal veil. The groomsmen, Nick Begler and Matt Gravenish, were becoming suits of black. The bridesmaids, Kate Lux wore a lovely suit of navy blue silk and Annie Fisch wore a suit of white silk.

After the ceremony was performed the young couple and their many friends repaired to the home of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Begler. An elaborate wedding dinner awaited them. The tables and rooms were beautifully decorated with smilax and carnations.

The groom is a well known and prosperous young farmer and the bride is the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Begler of Sheridan township. She is a young lady beloved by all who know her and a host of friends will extend hearty congratulations to the couple.

In the evening a reception was tendered. A large bowery was built for the occasion, and with dancing and feasting a happy time was had by a large gathering of friends. The couple will make their home in Rock township. THE DEMOCRAT joins their many friends in wishing that the sun may always shine over their pathway as bright as when they started on life’s journey together.

The relatives and friends from a distance were: Mr. and Mrs. Henry Sudtelge of Marcus, Mrs. John Ernester of Marcus, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Lux of Laurens, Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Lux of Independence, Barbara Lux of Paullina, Kate Lux of Alta, Mr. and Mrs. Barney Werdel of Oelwein, Mr. Matt Werdel, John Streit of Dyersville, Mrs. Joe Drum of Dubuque, Theodore Gravenish of Alta.

Following is a list of the presents received: (a long list of presents and who gave them is listed. Email me if you’d like to see the list.)
