The Baraboo, Wisc. newspaper reprinted an obituary from the Clay County (Iowa) News about Mary Ann Cramer who died in Freeman, Iowa, at the home of her daughter Mrs. George Teal.
When I checked the map to try and determine what county Freeman was in, I discovered that it was considerably east of Clay County. Was it a common practice in 1885 for news from Cerro Gordo County to be carried in the Clay County News? Or has there been some error in transcription and I should be looking closer to Clay County for George Teal?
Any info I can apply to this puzzle would be appreciated.
