I'm not related to this family, but thought this info might help.
In the 1870 census for Tama Co., Iowa, Howard Township, Jane is living with the RUNDI (or RANDI) family:
Dwelling 34,family 35:
Rundi, Richard, age 80, no occupation, b. NY
Rundi, Nancy, age 80, no occupation, b. PA
Sly, Jane, age 50, keeping house, b. OH
Sly, John W., age 13, at home, b. OH
Dwelling 35, family 36:
Giger, John, age 31, b. OH, farmer
Giger, Rhoda E., age 30, b. OH
Giger, Mary A., age 5, b. IA
Giger, Frances E., age 3, b. IA

In 1880, Jane is still in Tama County, Toledo Township, living with her son:
Sly, John, 21, laborer, b. OH, father b. NY, mother b. OH
Sly, Margaret, 21, wife, b. OH
Sly, Jane, 52, mother, b. OH, father b. PA, mother b. Ireland

I'd look for Jane in the Tama County cemeteries, unless John left Tama Co. after 1880 and she went with him.
